CAT is scheduled for November 25 in online (CBT) mode. Since 2017, IIMs have decided to release CAT Answer Key and provide opportunity to raise challenge, if not satisfied with the challenge. IIM Calcutta is expected to release the key in first week of December – 2018.
CAT (Common Admission Test) is the only route to postgraduate management programs in the IIMs. Besides other top notch B-Schools also accept CAT Scores. Candidates can use the answer key to calculate their expected sectional and overall score. In order to file any challenge against the key submitted, all applicants need to an additional fee of INR 1000 via stipulated payment modes.
IIM Calcutta is also expected to declare CAT 2018 Result in the first week of January – 2018. The result for CAT is declared in the form of online score card. The link for CAT Answer Key will be updated on the page as soon as it is released by the coordinating authority.

Candidates can follow the steps below to download the answer key:
- Visit the official website of CAT 2018, iimcat.ac.in
- Enter CAT Login Credentials – Registration ID and Password
- Select either Shift1/ Shift2 Question Paper
- Answer key can be downloaded in PDF form or can be viewed in the website only
- Correct Responses are marked with Green prefixed with a tick mark, whereas incorrect responses are marked in red and prefixed with ‘x’ symbol

CAT 2018 Exam Pattern
CAT 2018 comprises three sections Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative ability. All total there were 100 questions. From Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension 30, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning 40 and from Quantitative Ability 30 questions will be asked.

The first sixteen questions in the exam are from Reading Comprehension section. Two passages and 8 realated questions from each passage form the entire section. They are followed by two relatively smaller passages with 4 and 5 questions respectively. The next five questions will be summary and sentence rearrangement questions.
More emphasis is given this year on Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning section. A total of 40 questions came from this section. It is expected to be lengthier than previous years. A small section of data is given followed by the maximum of four questions.
Both the sets will include 3 questions each. Next four sets of questions have 4 questions and table and data were provided for them. The next two set had two questions each based on passages about Mumbai Train and Number of Books published in Europe last year. The set was on a sequence of numbers and it had four questions. There was one optimisation of work problem with next three questions. The last question was to select the logical order of distribution and it had three questions.

The quant section was more difficult than the previous year. The first five questions were relatively easy and were based on speed and distance, age, work etc. There were three questions from probability next, followed by one question from interest and one from discounts. Two more questions were from the ratio. It was followed by algebra and geometry then. In algebra, there were 8 questions and they came from various formula, ratios, logarithms, series etc. Geometry portion had 10 questions from the triangle, squares, 3D Geometry etc.
The overall impression of the exam is 70+ correct answers might be enough to get 99+ percentile and a call from the IIMs. The tentative answers to all the questions are given below. You are waiting for the result now. We wish you good luck.
