CAT 2018 Photo Size, Dimension and Guidelines information

CAT is one of the most esteemed examinations conducted for admissions to IIMs, all over the country. The examination is conducted by IIM Delhi. The conducting body lays down certain specific requirements for the documents to be uploaded along with the application form to make the procedure legit and accurate.

  • Candidates applying for CAT must know that the size of the images should not exceed 80 KB.

CAT 2018 Photo Specifications

Applicants for CAT should make certain that the scanned image of his/ her photograph matches all the specifications that are declared by the conducting authority. In case the photograph fails to meet all the requirements, the application form will be rejected by the examination conducting body.

  • The dimensions of the scanned image of the photograph should be 35mm X 45mm.
  • The format of the image should be JPG or JPEG.
  • The size of the image should not exceed 80 KB.
  • The photograph of the candidate must have a white background and should not be more than six years old.
  • A recent photograph will be preferred.

CAT 2018 Signature Specifications

Along with the scanned image of their photograph, candidates also need to upload the scanned image of their signature while filling CAT Application Form. Certain specifications for scanned signature have been laid down, which the candidates must follow in order to complete the application process successfully.

  • Candidates need to sign with a black pen on white paper.
  • The dimensions of the signature should be 80mm X 35mm.
  • The format of the image should be JPG or JPEG.
  • The size of the image should not exceed 80 KB.
  • Signature must be signed only by the candidate and not by any other person.
  • The signature will be used to put on the Admit Card (hall ticket) and wherever necessary during the examination process.
  • At the time of the examination if the candidate’s signature on the answer script, are not in tune with signature on the Hall Ticket/ Admit Card, the applicant will be disqualified.

How to upload scanned photograph and signature?

  • Visit the official website of CAT
  • Login with registration number and password received by the applicant.
  • Fill all the details mentioned in the application form.
  • After entering your personal, qualification and work details, proceed towards uploading your photograph and signature.
  • Two separate links will be given for uploading your signature and photograph.
  • Click on the respective links and browse the location where the scanned images have been saved.
  • Select the file and click on the upload button.

Instructions for Scanning CAT Photograph & Signature

Candidates should note down certain technical directions mentioned below for scanning their photographs and signature properly.

  • Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch)
  • Set Color to True Color.
  • File Size should be as per the specification mentioned above.
  • Image should then be cropped in the scanner to the edge of the photograph/signature. Further, use upload editor to crop the image to the final size.
  • Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 80KB. If the size of the file is more than 80 KB, then adjust the settings of the scanner.
  • If you wear glasses make sure that there is no reflection.
  • Eyes, nose, and hair of candidates must be visible in the photograph
  • Candidates must be facing forward to the camera and their face should be clearly visible. Photographs, where candidates are facing in some other direction, will not be accepted.
  • The image file should only be in JPG/ JPEG format.
  • Adding filters or editing the photograph will result in cancellation of the application form.

Candidates must be very careful while choosing the photograph and signature for uploading CAT Application Form. The photograph must match all the requirements as stated above. The purpose of the photograph and signature is to verify the identity of the candidate. Adhering to these specifications/ guidelines will ensure a smooth registration process.
