The Indian Institute Of Management Indore has released its admission criteria for session 2018-2020. The candidates who shall be appearing for CAT 2018 in the month of November, must understand the process before applying at the institute. IIM Indore PGP admissions for 2018-2020 will be a three-way process, including Eligibility Criteria, Shortlist for PI/WAT and Final Selection.
In the first phase, the candidates will be screened on the basis of their CAT 2017 score. IIM Indore has fixed CAT cutoff for 2018-2020 at 90 percentile for General Category applicants. Those applying for the 2-year PGP course must also fulfill the sectional cut-off criteria along with overall cut-off. This year CAT 2017 allotted only 20% weight.

IIM Indore shortlists the candidates for next round of admission process comprising Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) on the basis of scores obtained in CAT 2017 and other parameters.
The actual cut off could go beyond 92 depending on your academic profile. However, Cut off proposed by IIM Indore is 90 percentile for CAT 2018 percentile.
Those who have not scored a high balanced percentile in all the 3 sections in CAT 2018 may not expect to be shortlisted by IIM Indore. IIM Indore is one of the dream B school among the IIMs for MBA aspirants and one of the major USPs is, regardless of having high placement record, the admission opportunity in IIM Indore can be explored with moderate CAT 2017 percentile.
Candidate with slightly low percentile but the excellent academic record will be preferred to be shortlisted.
Aspirants having marks below the cut-off will not be considered for admission to its flagship PGP program 2018-2020.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed by mail. They are expected to be present for WAT/PI round in person, which is expected to be held in the month of January 2018.
The interviews will be conducted in the following cities:
Class 10 & 12 marks get 76% weight
Marks obtained in Class 10 and Class 12 will be awarded 36% and 40% weight in shortlisting process at the campus of IIM Indore but no weight will be entertained for bachelor’s degree marks.
On account of composite scores, Applicants will be called for WAT & PI stage which will be arrived at by accounting for the academic profile also.
The calculation of Composite Score takes place on the basis of CAT 2017 score, gender diversity, and academic scores

No weight will be awarded to the academic scores beyond class 12. Applicants having a percentage of marks above 85 can get a good weight in the computation of composite scores.
15% and 7.5% of the total seats are reserved for scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) candidates as per the government’s norm. 27% seats are reserved for non-creamy layer – other backward classes (NC-OBC) candidates and 5% seats are reserved for persons with disabilities.
CAT 2017 score to get 20% weight
Weightage to your CAT 2017 scores will be computed as follows-
20* [candidate’s CAT overall score / highest CAT overall score]
Women applicants to get 4% weight
To ensure gender diversity while shortlisting the candidates for the PI stage, IIM Indore will award a weight of 4% to female candidates only. No such criteria of weight are given to male or transgender candidates.
The computation is as follows: Gender Diversity Factor (GDF)
= 4 for Female Applicants
= 0 for Other Applicants
How to calculate your composite score
Composite Score = Sum of the above scores (Max 100) is the formula to arrive at the maximum score to check whether you would be shortlisted by IIM Indore after CAT 2017 result is announced in the 2nd week of January 2018. Please note that Z candidate, Zmin, Zmax for 10th and 12th Standard are computed using the normalization process.
After the declaration of shortlisting candidate, institute/management will not send any individual regret letter to applicants who are not shortlisted for WAT and PI.
Class X & XII get the highest weight among IIMs
Time and again IIM Indore made efforts to harmonies the selection pattern with the academics. In this way, it announced a high weight of 76% for academics up to class 12 for admission in PGP 2018-20, which no other IIMs announced till the date.
Different weight offered to class 10 and class 12 marks in the Admission Policy for PGP 2018-20 batches. The maximum weight of 36 points will be awarded to the Class 10 marks and the weight to class 12 marks will be 40 percent on a scale of 100. No weight will be awarded to the excellent academic profile in graduation.
To shortlist the candidates for 2nd stage of admission round, IIM Indore has announced highest weight for academic excellence in calculating the composite scores.

Batch size to increase
Around 530 CAT exam takers, get admission at both campuses of IIM Indore i.e. Indore and Mumbai campus. IIM Indore at its Indore campus used to be offered admission to a good number of 452-455 candidates, 75 students used to get admission opportunity at IIM Indore-Mumbai campus.
Now, with new PGP-HRM program added, it is expected that batch size would increase to 600 candidates.
Interview program is often scheduled in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi on behalf of IIM Indore.
Apart from flagship 2 years full time Post Graduate Programme in Management(PGP) at its Indore and Mumbai campus and 2 years full time PGP-HRM program beginning in 2018, IIM Indore offers – Fellow Programme in Management (FPM); FPM Industry; Executive PGP(EPGP); EPGP-E-Governance; 5 year integrated program in Management. A few other MDP and certificate program are also conducted by IIM Indore.
