IIM Ahmadabad Selection Criteria

The selection criteria of IIM Ahmadabad are as follows:

  • IIM Ahmadabad distinguishes some outstanding applicants from various backgrounds and shortlists them for the 2nd stage of admission, on the basis of CAT scores.
  • After this stage, all shortlisted applicants are at standard.
  • They will be evaluated based on their total scores (CAT score, Academic Rating (AR) and execution in WA-PI).
  • CAT cut off – IIM Ahmadabad considers the academic performance of candidates in 10th, 12th and degree examinations.
  • The overall performance of candidate is estimated by their academic performance, extracurricular activities, work involvement and experience, awards and acknowledgement, written analysis and personal interview.
  • As per the rules and guidelines of the government, 27% seats of IIM Ahmadabad are reserved for OBC applicants, 15% for SC applicants and 7.5% for ST applicants.
  • 3% seats are also held by IIM Ahmadabad for DA (Differently Abled) applicants. DA applicants are those with blindness and low-vision, hearing impedance and cerebral paralysis.
  • Final admission in IIM Ahmadabad is offered to candidates who appear the cut off marks, performs exceptionally well in the pre-admission rounds and have a decent academic record.

Important information

  • Please take note of that IIMA will direct its Academic Writing Tests and Personal Interviews (AWT and PIs) in Ahmadabad, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi/NCR urban communities.
  • Applicants need to choose two cities for AWT & PI in the CAT application form. Applicants shortlisted for AWT and PI will be suggested by enrolled post probably by the second week of January 2018.
