Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Vishakhapatnam has released its cut off for admission to the postgraduate program in Management. Only those students will be considered eligible for the next phases by IIM Vishakhapatnam who meets both the sectional and overall CAT cut off as per their category. According to the IIM Vishakhapatnam cut off 2018, the overall cut off percentile for general category is 90 percent.  While for NC, OBC and SC category candidates cut off is 75 and 60 respectively. The overall cut off for ST and PWD category students is 50 percentile each.

Student’s final admission will be done on the basis of their performance in Written Ability Test/ Personal Interview, past academic records and work experience. Cut off will be decided on the basis of various factors which are as follows:

  • Previous year cut off trends
  • Total number of students appearing for the exam
  • Seat availability
  • Difficulty level of the exam

IIM Vishakhapatnam: Expected cut off 2018

CAT cut off is the minimum marks that students have to score in the entrance exam to get eligible for the next round of admissions. Different categories have different cut off marks. Except overall cut off, students have to meet sectional cut offs also. Sectional cut off is the minimum qualifying marks that students have to score in each section.

The paper is divided into three sections i.e. Section 1 (Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension), Section 2 (Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning) and Section 3 (Quantitative Analysis).

As compared to the CAT 2016 Cut off, there is no change in the IIM Vishakhapatnam cut off. It has remained same in terms of every category, sectional and overall cut off.

On the basis of CAT 2016 scores, there were minor changes for 2017 admission. The overall aggregate for ST and DA category candidates goes up by 10 points, from 55 to 65 percentile.

As compared to 2014, CAT 2015 is also divided into three sections i.e. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Analysis. The cut off is same as per the previous year for general category candidates and also for NC-OBC, SC, ST, and DA candidates.

IIM Vishakhapatnam: Selection Procedure Weight-age

The selection process is comprised of three stages procedure. Student’s selection in the first stage is based on the CAT percentile and the second stage selection process consists of Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. Student’s shortlist is prepared on the basis of CAT scores, previous academic records, gender diversity and work experience.

Student’s final selection will be done on the basis of ranks as per category. The following table shows the weight-age to arrive at the final aggregate score:
