IIM Vishakhapatnam Cut Off analysis and expected cut off for 2019-21

CAT 2018 was conducted on November 25, 2018 for the academic session 2019-21. For admission into IIMs and other top B-schools in the country, clearing CAT entrance is mandatory. Every IIM has an independent cut off which they release after the CAT Result. In a notice released by IIM Vishakhapatnam on July 27, 2018, IIM Vishakhapatnam cut off and the eligibility criteria for 2019-21 has been released.

IIM Vishakhapatnam follows a 3-stage admission process where in the first stage your CAT score is recorded. In the second stage, CAT score, your academic record (class 10th, 12th), work experience is evaluated. In the third and the final stage, selected candidates have to appear for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) which will decide their admission.

According to the IIM Vishakhapatnam cut off 2018, the overall cut off percentile for general category is 90 percent.  While for NC, OBC and SC category candidates cut off is 75 and 60 respectively. The overall cut off for ST and PWD category students is 50 percentile each.

IIM cut off is released at 3 stages- one for CAT entrance, second for the academic and work experience record, and third after WAT and PI. You need to clear both these stages to get admission in IIM Vishakhapatnam.

Stage 1 IIM Vishakhapatnam cut off

CAT entrance exam is divided into three sections i.e. Section 1 (Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension), Section 2 (Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning) and Section 3 (Quantitative Analysis). The following table shows the sectional-cut off 2018 of various category candidates:

According to the above table CAT is given 40% weight which can be broken down as: QA-10 points, DILR-16 points and VRC-14 points.

At this stage, the selected candidates need to appear for WAT and PI. Here the score is calculated againn and the following weights are allotted to each component. The derived score is called the final composite score.

On the basis of CAT 2016 scores, there were minor changes for 2017 admission. The overall aggregate for ST and DA category candidates goes up by 10 points, from 55 to 65 percentile.

As compared to 2014, CAT 2015 is also divided into three sections i.e. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Analysis. The cut off is same as per the previous year for general category candidates and also for NC-OBC, SC, ST, and DA candidates.
