IIM Ahmadabad Cut Off 2019-21: Check the Admission Process and Dates here

IIM Ahmadabad cut off scores for its 2-year PGP have been around 90 percentile+ for several years. CAT is meant for admission to 20 IIMs across the nation and also to some top B-schools that accept CAT Score.The score will be available online at the official site of CAT and is expected to be released on January 7, 2019. Qualifying CAT entrance is the first step followed by the 2-stage admission process at IIM Ahmadabad.

Highlights of IIM Ahmadabad admission-

  • Some extraordinary performers from various backgrounds are directly shortlisted for the second stage based on their CAT scores.
  • All shortlisted applicants will be on par and will be assessed on the Aggregate Score (depends on CAT/GMAT, Academic Rating (AR) and (WA-PI Scores) in every category, in addition to IIM Ahmadabad cut off.
  • IIM Ahmadabad cut off considers the applicant’s academic performance in the 10th, 12th and Degree examinations.
  • For outside nationals, GMAT adds up to a scaled score of at least 720 will be acknowledged
  • As per the rules and guidelines of the government, 27% seats of IIM Ahmadabad are reserved for OBC applicants, 15% for SC applicants and 7.5% for ST applicants.
  • 3% seats are also held by IIM Ahmadabad for DA (Differently Abled) applicants. DA applicants are those with blindness and low-vision, hearing impedance and cerebral paralysis.

IIM Ahmadabad Cut off for 2019-21 session

After you qualify CAT 2018, you  need to go through 2 stages of admission at IIM Ahmadabad. Below are the details of each stage. At each stage, a new cut off is released. You must clear all the rounds to get admission in the institute.

Stage 1 for IIM Ahmadabad admission

This is the Preliminary Screening stage where your CAT 2018 score will be evaluated according to the sections in the exam. There is a separate cut off for students of every category. However, sectional cut off for remains the same in each category.

Here, your Academic score will also be evaluated which includes class 10th,12th and graduation marks. This will be your Application Rating Record (AR).

NoteNormalised AR score of an applicant will be equal to their AR score divided by average of the top 50 AR scores from the applicants’ pool.

Stage 2 for IIM Ahmadabad admission

At this stage, your composite score (CS) will be calculated before you are Shortlisted for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI).

Here is the formula for calculating your Composite score.

CS (Composite Score) = 0.3 (Normalised AR score) + 0.7 (Normalised overall score in CAT-2018)

IIM Ahmadabad will release a cut off list at this stage even where the cut off according to the CS from the applicant’s pool. Those who are shortlisted, will appear for the next round of Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI)

Stage 3 for IIM Ahmadabad admission

At this stage, Final Composite Score (FCS) will be calculated for each candidate to shortlist them for Analytical Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI). Here is the formula for calculating FCS

FCS = 0.50 (Normalised PI Score) + 0.10 (Normalised AWT Score) + 0.40 (CS).

IIM Ahmadabad Previous year cut off

IIM Ahmadabas releases cut off every year which varies but not significantly. Below are the details of the trends of previous year cut offs at IIM Ahmadabad.

In the table specified below, applicants can check the cut off for 2017-19 batches. Compared to last year, IIM Ahmadabad reduced both general and sectional cut off by 10 percentile for all the categories.

IIM Ahmadabad Cut off 2016

In 2016, cut off percentile was on the higher side. For General Category applicants, the overall cut off percentile was 90. This means that only those applicants who scored more than 90 percentile in CAT 2015 were eligible to be shortlisted for the following rounds of admission for 2016-18 batches.

IIM Ahmadabad Cut off 2015

Applicants were shortlisted for the additional rounds of admission for 2015-17 batches, depending upon the CAT 2014 scores. In 2014, IIMs had introduced changes in the examination pattern and the examination had only two sections. In the table specified below, applicants can check the minimum qualifying percentile for 2015-17 batches –

Important information

  • Please take note of that IIMA will direct its Academic Writing Tests and Personal Interviews (AWT and PIs) in Ahmadabad, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi/NCR urban communities.
  • Applicants need to choose two cities for AWT & PI in the CAT application form. Applicants shortlisted for AWT and PI will be suggested by enrolled post probably by the second week of January 2018.
  • The CAT takers applying to IIMA’s post-graduate programs can likewise check out if they have been shortlisted for AWT and PI by visiting the IIMA website (www.iima.ac.in) probably in the second week of January 2018.
  • No individual regret letters will be sent to applicants not short-listed for AWT and PI.
